The first of August is a day to celebrate above all others: it makes those born in Yorkshire reflect on their great good fortune  and those not having this good luck to pretend for the day  that they had.

So, make the most of this day and fly the flag high, then get stuck in to some good Yorkshire Pudding, ideally with onion gravy, though rabbit gravy is a tasty alternative.
