High Blean B&B guest, Jahn Hanson, triumphs in the 2013 Dip in the Dales open water swim.
The annual Dip in the Dales at Semer Water, in aid of Sue Ryder, was this year held on the 3rd August on a windy, wet day, though recent rain had freshened up Semer Water and added over a meter to the height of the lake. Westerly wind had whipped up quite a swell on the lake, which made the swim that much harder to achieve and it was a great achievement to get into the water in those conditions.
Jahn Hanson turned in an impressive time of 24 min 38 sec, to win this years race and even managed some extra meters due to being advised to take a detour! Jahn, who only started open water swimming about two years ago, counts swimming as his best discipline in triathlon.

Lake Semer Water nr Askrigg will be the venue for the swimming section of The Wensleydale Triathlon on the 11th August 2013 know as the oldest and toughest triathlon!
Semer Water is going to be a bit busy this weekend as there is also the Semer Water Splash taking place on the 11th August.
