Sit where JMW Turner sat to sketch “Simmer Lake” [Semer Water, Askrigg] in 1816

Come and sit in the very spot where JMW Turner the “painter of light” sat to make a sketch of Semer Water, for his painting Simmer Lake in 1816. A small garden has been created on the spot where the legendary  artist, know for his ability to “paint light” sat to make a sketch of Semer Water, for his painting “Simmer Lake“, in 1816.

The seat is on the north east side of the lake and is easily reached from the car park.

The spot is just down the road from High Blean B&B at Raydaleside Askrigg, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
